An NABL Accredited Laboratory

The Regional Reference Standards Laboratory (RRSL), Bangalore, was set up by the Government of India, under the aegis of the Directorate of Legal metrology Unit of the Department of Consumer Affairs, monitored by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, New Delhi. This laboratory is one among the five laboratories situated at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Faridabad and Guwahati, across the country, to cater to the calibration / verification / testing services of the Central / State Governments’ organizations in particular, and Public Sector Undertakings and Private Industries in general, in the field of Legal Metrology in their respective regions falling under their purview. This laboratory is strategically located in Bangalore, located at equi-distant from all the states in the Southern region comprising of the States of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu and Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Pondichery.

This RRSL centered at Bangalore, has been operating and providing verification / calibration / testing / certification services for the last 23 years,initially in a temporary set up (rented premises) at Magadi Road, Bangalore, and then shifted to its own laboratory building premise constructed as per OIML specifications for absorption of vibration and, under regulated environmental conditions at Jakkur, 2 km. away from the National Highway No.7, off Bangalore-Bellary Road.

Apart from the Verification of Legal Standards of Secondary / Working Standards of Mass, Capacity Measures, Length Measures and Balances, this laboratory extends its calibration facilities to Central / State Governments’ / Autonomous Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings and Private Manufacturing and Service Oriented Industries, in the field of metrology with traceability to the National Standards.
